This season, we are excited to introduce new classes, including a Business Conversation Course and a Test Preparation Program, making our curriculum even more comprehensive.
The first day of the term was on August 20, and our returning students came with confidence and excitement for their continued growth. New students, though a little nervous, introduced themselves in Japanese with smiles and great courage!
We look forward to an exciting and productive Fall 2025 at the Japanese Conversation and Culture School.
Some classes are already full, but there are still a few spots available. If you are interested in joining, please submit your application through our online form.
From May 23 to 27, students from our Japanese Conversation Course joined a study tour to Gifu and Nagoya. This trip was the result of a year-long effort, designed to help students use their Japanese in real-life situations. They explored Takayama's old streets, admired the traditional houses of Shirakawa-go, and navigated Nagoya by train--shopping and communicating in Japanese on their own. We also celebrated the birthdays of two students with a surprise cake, making the trip even more special. Students from different classes became close, and it was a memorable experience for everyone. The next Japanese Conversation Course starts in August, and we're planning another study tour in May. We look forward to another great year of learning and adventure!
Also on April 21, our Adults' Class experienced a traditional Japanese Tea Ceremony. After the formal greeting, "Otemae chōdai itashimasu" ("Thank you for preparing the tea"), we enjoyed the quiet elegance of the moment, learning about Japanese hospitality and mindfulness. We were also treated to a special performance by our tea ceremony instructor, Ms. Itō, who is also an accomplished koto player. The gentle sound of the koto filled the school, creating a truly immersive experience. In the Adults' Class, we focus on practical Japanese that you can use in real-life situations. And in May, we're looking forward to an exciting study tour to Japan!
On Monday, April 21, our Kids' Class held a fun-filled Undōkai (Sports Day), Japanese style! After cheering "Go Red Team!" and "Go White Team!", everyone jumped into action. We started with Rajio Taisō (Japanese radio exercises), then moved on to Tamaire (beanbag toss), a fun obstacle race, and Tug-of-War. We wrapped up with a lively team relay. For a full hour and a half, the children enjoyed moving their bodies while using Japanese words and phrases along the way. At the Kids' Class, we teach Japanese language and culture through games, songs, and activities that make learning fun and engaging.
