Also on April 21, our Adults' Class experienced a traditional Japanese Tea Ceremony. After the formal greeting, "Otemae chōdai itashimasu" ("Thank you for preparing the tea"), we enjoyed the quiet elegance of the moment, learning about Japanese hospitality and mindfulness. We were also treated to a special performance by our tea ceremony instructor, Ms. Itō, who is also an accomplished koto player. The gentle sound of the koto filled the school, creating a truly immersive experience. In the Adults' Class, we focus on practical Japanese that you can use in real-life situations. And in May, we're looking forward to an exciting study tour to Japan!
On Monday, April 21, our Kids' Class held a fun-filled Undōkai (Sports Day), Japanese style! After cheering "Go Red Team!" and "Go White Team!", everyone jumped into action. We started with Rajio Taisō (Japanese radio exercises), then moved on to Tamaire (beanbag toss), a fun obstacle race, and Tug-of-War. We wrapped up with a lively team relay. For a full hour and a half, the children enjoyed moving their bodies while using Japanese words and phrases along the way. At the Kids' Class, we teach Japanese language and culture through games, songs, and activities that make learning fun and engaging.
